John was my hero in High School. Truely a great friend. Even my mom loved him.

John and I were best friends all thru elementary school. I spent lots of time with his family and his brother Bob. After High school John joined the Marine Corps. After he completed his service he returned to Huntsville and was working on Redstone Arsenal. John died in a traffic accident. He was survived by his wife Lynn (Johnson) from the class of 74 and a son, Chris. I still think of John often.

Terry covered most of it. John Vincent Fabian, born 17 December 1955, lost to us on 19 February 1994 at age 38. Buried at Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville AL. He briefly served his country by enlisting as a U.S. Marine, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal.

Craig Cox (Class of 1973) passes the following information to us about John Fabian as they were very good friends in high school. John has a younger brother Bob Fabian who also graduated from Grissom (Class of 75). According to Craig, John was quite gung-ho about the Marine Corps and though he only served from 1974 to 1978, he was able to attend and graduate from the highly prestigious Marine Corps Scout-Sniper school. In the Marines the Scout-Snipers are considered elite combat specialists. While still in the Marines, John fell in love with and successfully wooed and married classmate Lynne K. Johnson (Class of 1974  - one of ours!). Ever the romantic warrior, he married her on Valentine's Day (1977 or 1978, Craig wasn't sure), or so the story goes. After the Marines, he returned to Huntsville and joined the work force as a civilian. Together John and Lynn had a son, Chris, who also attended Grissom and Chris in turn, has delivered a grandson to them. It is not clear whether John got to know his grandson  or not before passing away.
