Barney H. "Ace" Roberts of Huntsville went home to be with his Savior on April 20, 2017. He was born in Anniston, AL on January 21, 1933. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Sara Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Copeland Roberts; his daughter, Carol (Pick), sons, Kenneth (Sonja), Michael, and Patrick (Debbie); granddaughters, Kinsey (Joe), Rebecca (Sam), grandson Daniel (Shelby) and 3 great grandchildren.
Ace had many interests including, scuba diving, chess, pitching softball, coaching football, reading, and singing in the choir at First Baptist New Hope.
He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After military service he attended Auburn University and Athens College where he received an undergraduate degree in math and physics. He later received a masters degree at Alabama A&M. He worked for NASA during the Apollo years and retired from the Army Missile Command.
A memorial service will be held on May 6, 2017 at First Baptist in New Hope, AL visitation at 2:00 with service at 3:00. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to First Baptist New Hope or your favorite charity.
